Before the Smoke War, Grendel was just a young freelance Fixer out of T Corp's orbit, just beginning his career. He was constantly drifting between low-mid grade offices, not really finding the desired stability (which was rather meh with the likes of him of Grade 7). When war began, Grendel saw an opportunity to use his combat skills in an environment where there would be no shortage of work, so he joined the war on the side of the old G Corp. Even though many had conflicted feelings about the types of prosthetics they were famous for in the Smoke War, Grendel only saw an opportunity to get to his end goal: becoming a more skilled and powerful professional of his craft.
After the ceasefire, a veteran with skills that are only good for guerrilla or open combat has few career paths, especially with affiliation with a fallen Wing. So Grendel returned to the Fixer trade, the thing he knew best before the Smoke War. Though, new body modifications forced him to find ways to cover himself just so that he would be taken as a person that can be worked with, not a mindless pest. Grendel found some covering clothes with high collars, bought some headgear that would appear to have a human head underneath, and kept his hardened hands in his pockets during client meetings, a small concession to their comfort if they already knew of his background. The work remained the same nonetheless. The word people have been saying with the mere sight of someone like Grendel - “pest”, “vermin”, “it” - didn’t rattle him much, even when he was at work without the cover up, when all those words were directed at him. Yet it did left a bad taste on his mouth and sour thoughts of the minds of the citizens of the City.
Right now Grendel is doing his work still, now being assigned a Grade 3 after so many years of working in the field. And even though after the Smoke War he decided to be a freelance Fixer, lately he has been thinking of registering his own office in search of life stability.
