Celeste is my character in one of my D&D campaigns! She’s a fairy warlock with an Archfey patron who specializes in light, illusion, and charming spells.
In another life, Celeste was a renowned artist, widely regarded as one of the best of her time. Her skill in painting was enough to attract the attention of a powerful Archfey known as the Prince of Moths. So it was that when Celeste (who was known by a different name at the time) died unfortunately in her middle ages, the Prince of Moths resurrected her in the body of a crystalline moth fairy.
Upon being resurrected, she lost all of her memories of her previous life (whether or not her patron intended for that to happen is unknown). The Prince of Moths gave her her new name, Celeste Nocturna Moonbeam (he has a strange idea of what names sound cool).
Having both been given life and a name by the Prince of Moths, Celeste became deeply and inescapably indebted to him. She lived in the Feywild for many years, serving as the Prince of Moths’ personal artist. After that time, however, she began to become curious about her past life in the Material Plane.
She eventually went to her patron with her request to be sent to the Material Plane. The Prince of Moths agreed, on a few conditions; the most major being that every night, he would take all of her memories of the sun, moon, and stars. Every day she would wake up not knowing what these celestial bodies looked like, and every day she would experience her first time seeing them anew—an endless supply of valuable emotional memories for the Prince of Moths to enjoy.
Celeste agreed, and was sent then and there to the Material Plane. Since then, she has joined the Adventurers’ Guild in the hopes of seeing more of the world and finding out what happened to her before she died.
