Mulberry is a young woman who gathers medicinal herbs and rare materials for the Hex Society, a mysterious group of witches and necromancers alike who are spread out across the country.

There are many gatherers just like her, who risk life-and-limb to gain a fair bit of coin for traversing dangerous biomes in such of these supplies. But she is one of the few who have managed to live long enough to gain a stable and trustworthy reputation with her employers.

Mulberry makes use of a sentient radish root, grafted into her right forearm, which is enchanted with magical energy to assist with the search of certain natural minerals or resources. This root is able to sense the intent of its host to ascertain if they are actually following their objective without ulterior motive. 

It is an insurance policy put in place by the Hex Society to keep its employees' undivided attention towards achieving their goal. Once the supplies have been delivered by the gatherer, the root can then be removed without harm.
