Joel is one of the three protagonists of "Search for the Sky".

He lives with his mother, who is severely ill, and his little sister. His father left their family when they were still young, and his older brother is missing, so he has some definite baggage. Joel is headstrong, determined and a bit of a grump.

Relationships with other OCs:
Michi - His little sister, who can be spoiled and needy. (Though maybe that's his own fault since he dotes on her.)
Luka - A weirdo who's their only lead to find the person who can save their mom.
