If only you were braver; maybe you could've saved him. But such is the futile attempt of a miner's desperation to save its canary. Turn back, oh lone one. For your birds shrill shrieks fill the air and soon its lungs will burst with the effort of keeping you safe. Bravery, though commendable, will not, nor ever, be enough to save those that shoulder their way through danger to create a safe passage way for those behind them. Turn back, the canary sings its song now. Danger lurks ahead, and it is too late for the bird. Leave it. Bravery is not enough to save him.
