Pathetic purple pirate whom I adore 💜

Wisteria is the captain of the Starchasers, a band of female pirates offering a home to women fleeing their circumstances. Wisteria joined when she was nineteen and became captain a few years before meeting Tirese; she is incredibly protective of those she cares about, and her crew trusted her to do everything in her power to ensure their safety. Despite having spent so much time in this environment, Wisteria is very closed off, as she feels that revealing her emotions will put herself and the people she is responsible for in a vulnerable position; she even makes a point of concealing her emotions from her crew, as she does not want them to fear that she isn’t able to protect them. She relies heavily on her intuition, especially when judging strangers, and while this tends to work out in familiar situations, it can also lead her to make dangerous errors or let her biases obstruct her critical thinking.

In spite of her stoicism, Wisteria is deeply sensitive. She’s very compassionate towards the vulnerable and feels a deep sense of obligation to protect them; she believes that those who intentionally hurt the innocent are sub-human and deserve to be punished, and she has no qualms about delivering such punishment herself. She’s done a lot of things she regrets, many of which she hates herself for – she doesn’t feel comfortable in who she currently is, which leads her to be very critical of herself when she makes mistakes. While a part of Wisteria wishes to embrace her sensitivity, allowing herself to be vulnerable and forgiving herself for her past mistakes, she knows it was her decision to leave that version of herself behind her, and she doesn’t think she’s a good enough person to ever reach it again without support.
