Shortly after his on-again-off-again roommate and situationship partner proposes by gifting him a class ring and a ring with rainbow rhinestones, Stan takes a beat and walks to Columbus Circle, in Manhattan. When he touches the statue at the center of the circle, he gets plummeted back in time to 6th century Manhattan, never to be seen again.
When Stan is not busking, or working as a historian, Stan studies HEMA, and creates his own period-accurate mideval clothing. The only clothing he wears that he did not make himself is his boxer shorts, and the headphones he wears. Despite being fairly period-accurate, he does add some modern connivences, so that he can keep important items on him, such as his phone, wallet, keys, weapons, and trading items.
Stan also has life-long habit of turning various materials into knives. Especially once in foreign-to-him setting, he always has between 6 and 25 knife-adjacent objects on him. He knows how to form iron ore into Damascus steel but is not super confident in his abilities. He has made a couple knives.
