Ezra O'Hara is Adranyel's retainer, a tiefling monk (Way of Shadows) with a past as mercenary. After being abandoned at the orphanage by his mother, Ezra grew up under the care of Father Victor O'Hara. As the boy grew older, he was unable to find a new family, so during his adolescence, Father O'Hara decided to adopt him. To Ezra, Victor was a true father. When Victor disappeared in his late teens, Ezra found himself having to organize the orphanage. He decided to entrust him to the care of one of the teachers and left to begin his career as a mercenary.

There, he forged new bonds and experienced ... love, for the first time? He's not sure, especially since the woman he was in love with, a drow, ended up betraying his trust and killing all their companions, revealing herself as a spy.
During a near-fatal fight with the woman, Ezra lost his right eye, and with it much of his trust in others.

After abandoning his mercenary work with his former company, which had fallen apart, he began taking on some solo work. During this time, he found himself saving a nobleman attacked by bandits in the woods: Lord Caleb Morgenlius, Adranyel's father. Impressed by his skills, Caleb offered Ezra a job as his son Adranyel's valet (and bodyguard, in a sense). At the time, Ezra was about 23, while Adranyel was barely 19.
