Max is a reef shark transfer student from The Bahamas to coastal Florida after his dad's work required an abrupt relocation.

Florida was a big step for him. He grew up in an area where animal-folk were commonplace, so being somewhere so human-central has definitely been a challenge. People often pick on him or are apprehensive of him because of his shark characteristics. This is thanks to those crappy human-made shark movies. Sharks are actually really sweet. This made Max spiteful towards humans rather quickly. He was still just like a person on the inside, so why was he being treated differently? He did not want to hurt anyone, and didn't understand why people thought that of him.

Through a rather tedious series of events, Max ended up becoming friends with one of the school's more infamous students. Despite Jamie's constant protests, Max saw someone who needed a friend. Even though Jamie was a half-breed, something very uncommon, they still got just as much, if not more flack as Max for the animalistic parts of them. What they are on the outside isn't important to Max though. More than anything, he just wants to be a good friend to someone that needs it. It became his drive! He finds joy in making others happy when it seems like majority of the people around him enjoy the opposite. He is a sweet little shark!
