Sonja Blazek is introduced in the prequel to "Search for the Sky".

She was taken away from her family to one of the Havens when her Gifted markings appeared. She eventually escaped, but she accidentally killed someone in the process. Fearing her newfound power, she is unable to return home to her mother.
