A loud, usually confident, outgoing and slightly playful young man that has too much determination for his own good.

Works helping his family take care of a shrine that has been the duty of the family to take care of for generations now. Travels for awhile in hopes of getting famous so that perhaps his parents will appreciate him finally, and also in hopes of finding his first love, whom mysteriously disappeared from his village without a trace when they were teens, but after his quest to find his childhood crush and bring her home ended disastrously, Lao fell into a depression; simply returning home afterwards, utterly ridden with guilt and his family having no idea how to help him.

After an incident with an angry evil spirit attacking the Liwei family, Lao ended up making a new pact with the deity that lives in the shrine his family cares for, [Fei](https://unvale.io/character/6b2f1b3e-ba54-44b5-a95f-5c1ca7e9a025), after the original contract his family made with the young deity was broken; with said new pact preventing Fei from using his invisibility magic and also making him no longer confined to the family shrine's land after being stuck there basically his whole life.

With Fei's newfound freedom, and extreme curiosity of the world that he's never had the opportunity to see much of, Lao embarks on a new quest, this time simply to show Fei around the lands; with said quest slowly but surely helping Lao get over his depression, especially when he ends up meeting two particular individuals and may or may not have finally found love; love that would not end in disaster like with Lao's former crush.
