Born in the Netherlands in 2020, died in the US in 2058, Tess Sobeck (neé Meijer) arrived to Nevada as a climate refugee. Raised by conservative Christian parents, Tess found comfort in her childhood friends, Elisabet and Robert, and their mother, Miriam.

Elisabet left for college in her teens, but the advent of the holonet provided a new escape where Tess could look and act however she wanted without being recognized. There, she became an overnight sensation who basked in her fame, as she craved the love she couldn’t get from her family and most of her peers.

The stresses of the holo idol life caught up with Tess when she was hospitalized for algorism in her twenties. Forced to quit despite having no other job prospects, Tess felt directionless. She moved in with Rob, who she later married and had a son, Fross, with. It was while in rehab that she rediscovered her love for nature.

Tess’s life experiences made her distrustful of people. But, even though she was reclusive and Lis was her only confidant after her divorce, she stayed diplomatic, put on a smile, and insisted on standing on her own two feet.
