Just a quick lore dump in the writing.

The reason Nilfon looks different is because their magic has been corrupted so whenever they try to transform into a animal they turn into a corrupted version of that animal or sometimes their more of a chimera, and when they transform back it isn’t pretty sometimes they can’t fully turn back so they have characteristics of the animals still present like scales or feathers still on their arms or back.
