Metir is a dragon from my original fantasy world (which I hope to put on Unvale eventually).
In this world, dragons are despised and hunted by other species due to a history of oppression and war, the potential for humans to use the bodies of slain dragons as a powerful fuel for their magic, and other unfortunate circumstances.
While many dragons fled beyond the borders of the map, Metir has stayed within mortal territory because of her grandfather, who dreamed of improving dragons’ relations with mortals. Her grandfather was betrayed and killed by mortals, though Metir fought them off before they were able to take his body. Since then, she has stayed alone to protect his remains, ensuring humans never use him for their magic. She hopes to one day grow large and strong enough to carry his remains away to safety with her, but currently she is unable to.
Hated by mortals and far from any other dragons, Metir is desperately lonely. She eventually started writing letters to a strangers to sate her boredom and need for companionship. Years of fighting off adventurers hoping to slay her or steal her treasure has left her hesitant to trust mortals, though she still dislikes killing them and always tried to scare them off first. She wears the mask of a stereotypical arrogant, callous, condescending dragon in front of mortals, giving them what they expect. In reality, she is quiet, honorable, loyal, and empathetic, though it has been a long time since she has shown someone that side of her.
Like all dragons, Metir has the ability to change between her true dragon form and a humanoid form. She has the magical ability to conduct electricity through her body and expel it through her mouth and/or hands. As an aquatic dragon, she also possesses gills which allow her to breathe underwater.
