A silly little (but actually not very little) shark/cat hybrid! He's timid, and very much prone to causing disasters due to continuously forgetting what things he can actually fit under or in to hide when startled. 

Hybrid animals are a rarity to see, especially actual animals instead of humans with animal features. Seeing natural hybrid creatures in the wild is very rare; most seen were illegal experiments created via people hoping to be able to sell them for a very pretty penny, if not use the combined abilities of a hybrid animal for their own benefit. Those sorts of experiments were outlawed, but unfortunately, a few hidden labs have yet to have their operations discovered.

Mako was the result of one such lab's experiments, and was rescued from the lab by Tamaki when the elf accidentally stumbled upon the illegal happenings there whilst helping the local authorities out with what seemed like a completely unrelated case. Mako and the other creatures were rescued and the operation shut down.

Tamaki specifically plucked up Mako out of the rescued animals because the cat was half-shark, and he thought he knew the perfect new home for the timid fellow; with a half-shark man named [Finnley](https://unvale.io/character/f4dba2bb-5df6-4be2-8ce9-1c9f6efb30d9). Finnley wasn't too amused at Tamaki shoving a random cat at him, especially because he had no plans to own a pet and was annoyed Tamaki brought him solely because he was part shark like Finnley.

But despite initially refusing to take Mako in, Finnley eventually agreed, and though he rarely likes to admit it, the shark kitty has essentially became his best friend; he spoils him rotten and even cooks special fish dinners just for him, even brings him to work with him at the Seashell Cafe as well just so Mako won't be lonely at home by himself. 

The best at knocking over chairs.
