Covey’s life is finally starting to fall into place for him. He’s become a strong singer and a valuable part of the Reaparth Academy choir. His siblings are finally in college and out of his hair, and he’s grown into his brother’s hand-me-downs. Everything seems to be on track for a successful final year of preparatory school. That is, until he is approached by the school’s most busy prefect: Raff Aatos. He asks him to help him contact the afterlife, something that requires overture (magic) also known as Covey’s worst subject. He intends on declining when he realizes that there’s something in Raff’s eyes that reeks of desperation.
