Before the circus, Dribbel used to be a military pilot but after developing glaucoma in his right eye, he was medically discharged. Afterwards he struggled to get a job and was living off of the compensation money he was given. His military buddies called and tried to offer help but due to a lot of self-hate he had, Dribbel had an argument with them - ending with him having last word before hanging up.

After the majority of his funds running out, Dribbel resorted to pawning off items he found in the trash, there he found a relatively good headset. He tried to immediately sell it off but the owner didn't accept it unless it was still functional. After begrudgingly putting it on outside, the next thing he knew he was now in the circus - arriving shortly after Zooble.

Due to a lot of downs in his life, Dribbel developed a defeatist mindset which carried over to the circus. He used to be very close to Kaufmo but after he abstracted he kept the others at arms length. Before Pomni arrived at the circus, he pretty much resigned himself to the circus - going along with any adventure Caine had on hand. But as episodes go on, he slowly gained more optimism and determination to escape the circus or at the very least make the most of it.
