Born on a ranch in Labrynna with dreams of becoming a knight like his parents, Josh Dragelion worked hard throughout his childhood until the day he was to leave to enlist. But monsters razed his ranch and his family was lost, leaving him stranded in Termina. Becoming a Town Guard to pay the bills and achieve knighthood in his own way, Josh would accompany the Goddesses' chosen Hero on her quest to save Termina from ruin. On the side, he ended the corruption at the very top of Clock Town's guardship, becoming Guard Captain himself.

With Termina saved, Josh became embittered by a lack of appreciation for his accomplishments and left for Hyrule to start over and build a new Dragelion Ranch in Ordon Village. But the gods were not done with him yet, placing a Triforce Crest of Courage on his hand and thrusting him back into the fight, bringing him to become a soldier and later achieving knighthood. Josh fought to save Hyrule from the forces of twilight, while also discovering that his mother had once been meant to become Labrynna's Queen, before being bullied into relinquishing her royal name and joining the knights to prove herself.

Now recognized as a Prince of Labrynna and reuniting with his siblings, Josh returned to Labrynna to face down the monsters that had once taken his home from him. Leading the charge, he would set his homeland free. Alongside his family, friends and the Hero who had become his beloved, Josh fought to stop Ganondorf and save Hyrule.

After Ganondorf's defeat, Josh married Selene, now Queen of Hyrule, taking the throne as King of Hyrule himself. The two governed Hyrule into several years of peace, assassination attempts aside. That need for adventure eventually drove the duo to abdicate in favor of a handpicked candidate, and the two returned to their ranch and the wide open fields of Hyrule. It was time, now, for Josh and Selene to enjoy the fruits of all they had fought for.
