Yapping about Aymer and his illness

I've started writing out the main story of ROS and think it would help if I write this out before I hit that plot point.

Aymer is ill, something that doesn't show until Nereus is close to him and spends more time with him. The random spouts of coldness he displays, the isolation, the strict non-use of magic all comes together.

Aymer has something called Mana-Drowning. When a magic users core(basically a second heart that all magic users have thats right under their regular heart) doesn't release the mana for a long period of time it tries to forcibly expell it. It causes random—and dangerous—flashes of magic. Now when that is done over the period of years...you get the point. It causes fatigue and spouts of major heat that pours out from his chest. He gets aches and pains somedays, while feeling fine on others.

Onto the actual reason why he does it, its due to his kind of magic. Known as either blue or an abnormal flame—its a kind of fire magic that has thought to have been long dead. Thousands of years ago fire elves were blessed by the fire god, and their leader was given a more powerful flavor to protect their tribe. This magic was phased out as more mechanical means were put into use. After a huge incident he stopped using it.

By the time he's comfortable with using it again it does not come easy. His actions had severe consequences. His magic only works in large bursts, and leaves him completely exhausted. It would take years of therapy for him to even be even semi normal(which would likely happen in a short story/spinoff or smth)
