The game features sprite-based horses that autonomously navigate randomized maps in an attempt to find a bundle of carrots. The game is known for its chaotic, unscripted gameplay, in which each horse’s movements are controlled entirely by in-game logic and procedural generation rather than player input. The game was made entirely using Clickteam Fusion 2.5,[1][2] and has taken inspiration from games such as wimbrut racing, Dreams for your Computer, and Jikkyō GI Stable.[3][4][5] Despite its simple mechanics, Horse Race Tests has developed a cult following online, with fans treating each race like a competitive sporting event.
