I have noticed a thing where people will use tone indicators online sarcastically or as a joke even though that is technically the opposite of what they are made for.
if you don’t know, tone indicators are used by people online to indicate tone and emotion, without voice. they originated from the nierodivergent commuinity, but have spread outside of it, bc it’s a useful tool to any one. they are structured by having a / and then an abbreviation of a meaning ( ex: /pos means the person said that in a positive way.)
anyway, I have seen people doing things saying jokes and adding /srs which means serious, and it really confuses me.
as a nuerodivergent person who has trouble understanding and conveying my tone, it is very difficult when the tool that is supposed to help me does the obviou.
these are some basic/popular tone indocators to help you out:
/pos= positive
/j = joking
/sar= sarcasm 
/srs= serious
/nm= not mad
/genq= genuine question
/info= informational
/silly = silly
