Welt Worldbuilding: rules for worldbuilding

incapable
Hail and well met, my old muckers! So posts are a thing now? neat. How about I use this time to go into expaining the four, sort of overarching rules I use to keep my setting marginally consistent in worldbuilding?

  1. EVERYTHING IN THE WELT HAS A (PSEUDO)SCIENTIFIC EXPLANATION: This is a rule to make sure that creatures in the welt have some form of plausibility and keep it grounded. The reason I use the term 'pseudo' is that I am not a scientist; I am an artist and occasional writer, so it gives me a tiny bit more room to breathe.

  2. YOU DO NOT EXPLAIN THE SCIENCE IN THE TEXT: this is not to say there aren't any scientists in the Welt, but at its core, it is a fantasy setting, so knowledge of deeper scentific priciples are going to have to be more vague and ambiguous.

  3. NOTHING IN THE WELT IS INHERENTLY EVIL: I believe that evil, on the whole, is not inherent to beings; it is an active choice, and I wish to include this in my setting. Animals hunt not because it hates you but because they need to eat, and a Wortie, while selfishly inclined, is not incapable of self-reflection and kindness.

  4. THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS TO THE THREE PREVIOUS RULES: This is a bit of a trump card i know, but this is what really puts the 'fantasy' into my fantasy setting. There are things out there that break one or two of these rules. dark things, wondrous things, great and terrible things, things that will help or will harm, and that add spice to my world.

So. their are my rules, please tell me what you think, and if you're new, I thoroughly encourage you to look through the Welt's world page and look at my weird little goobers.
