Spellwork takes place in a city named Techville. This city is super technologically advanced and is monitored by drones and robots. In this city there's an evil company called Inferno Inc. 
This companies goal is to punish anyone who practices magic and exterminate magical beings that end up in the human realm in order to keep the world , magic free. Not everyone agrees with this companies ideas so the main 5 protagonists, the Spellwork Squad, team up to keep magic users safe and to defeat Inferno Inc. stuck-up employees!

In this universe there's other worlds such as Festive Wonderland, a place that is ruled by Santa Claus and Delights original home realm. This world is actually an artificial wonderland in which the elf species is forced to work against its will in factories so people in the human realm don't have to do anything manually anymore. The elves are actually kidnapped aliens who adapted to the factory worker lifestyle. In this realm theres also other types of life forms such as gingerbread people and even anthropomorphic raindeers which are more privileged than the elves.

The third realm is The Land of Spirits! Harmolings home realm! This land is a kingdom ruled by spirits which can range in appearence from humanoid looking to anthropomorphic  animals to even abstract looking beings. Every spirit has magical powers and can travel from realm to realm.
