a group of photography students travel to an abandoned, run down research facility as they work on capturing horror-esque imagery. mary, a student, drags along her friend cass for the ride. however, things quickly go south as the building begins to collapse on top of them. cass finds herself escaping, but only to be greeted by a peculiar, unforgiving world. unable to go back, she’s forced to become adjusted to this new environment as she is guided by the photography professor, who is strangely familiar with their situation.
