The story begins when Rubén de Lumière wakes up in the liminal space between life and death with Lilith before him, claiming she killed his family with magic. She left him barely alive so she may possess him and begin her reign of terror on the land of the living. Refusing her magical prowess, Rubén counters that no magic was used and she is not the Lilith that's haunted his family for generations. But in order to back these claims, he must come to terms with what his family is capable of.
