The Witchlands are a separate realm born from witches searching for safety from their human oppressors. Around 600 years ago, a wizard (allegedly) and several other witches combined their powers to create a rift in the universe that created a whole separate world from Earth. Most witches made the move, but some stayed either by choice or because they were deemed "unfit". These were often different subcategories of witches, typically the ones humans were most afraid of. This kind of thinking is pervasive in their society to this day, with sub categorical discrimination running rampant.
