Jesiley's egg was stolen by his adoptive mother Sonya and adoptive brother Adiney. Which was a blessing and a curse.

These two had developed magic far more than wild dragons, and he could absorb their knowledge while in the shell. When he was almost instantly transformed after hatching, Adiney got jealous. However, the two reconvened, mainly, Jesiley truly curious about his brother and magic.
It would also have been possible that Jesiley's birth mother would have eaten the egg or hatchling to gain some energy back. Sonya made sure he knew and knew she and Adiney had saved him. Jesiley still is grateful to her, but not Adiney anymore.

The curse part is, because it turned out, Sonya didn't think highly of dragons, and trained him and his adoptive siblings as weapons against his own species. She also used them as energy batteries. When Adiney found out, he tried to confront her and protect Jesiley and their adoptive brother, but failed. Adiney was forced to flee, and Sonya used her influence on the younger dragons to tell them, Adiney had been the evil one all along. And Adiney's later visits, his succumbing to chaos magic with subsequent insanity seemed to prove her point. So, not only losing his older brother, but also seeing him not be the idol Jesiley wanted him to be turned the love he once felt into resentment.

To this day, Jesiley is loyal to Sonya. Only his love for his boyfriend Ren comes even close.
The two met when Sonya ordered Jesiley to find Adiney to tell him something. Ren being Ren was instantly smitten with the older dragon and, after a little pep-talk from his half-brother, confessed his love with a kiss. Jesiley enjoys his straight-forwardness and big heart, but also needed a little encouragement from Waldinas.
