Elara is a biomedical scientist who works for the Centauri government. She primarily worked on the Hadar Space Station which is where the experiments on the orphans (including Gamma and Lyra ) were conducted. Out of all her test subjects, she was quite proud of Gamma (a cooperative and highly successful experiment who outlived most of the others). She would occasionally reward him for his good behavior, which Gamma took as a sign she cared about him outside of just being an experiment. He always saw her a mother-figure as she was the closest thing he had to a parent for the first 13 years of his life.

Elara is the oldest daughter of the infamous space pirate, Apollo. Her mother was an obsessive fan of Apollo's who founded the cult centered around him. Her mother used her as a way to gain more followers (and wealth). After her mother's murder, Elara was then taken in by Apollo and his new wife, Aquila. Elara quickly became close to Aquila, who treated her with kindness and patience.

During her teens and early 20s, Elara was a space pirate and a member of her father's crew. Though she inherited nearly all of her father's powers, she was more interested in reading books rather than participating in fights. She, along with her sister, Alshain, was one of the few survivors of the space patrol raid that wiped out her father's crew.

As a middle-aged adult, she has a commanding presence and won't allow herself to be disrespected by anyone. Her confidence and pride comes from Apollo, but she's calm, collected, and patient like Aquila.
