Lien is an alien from the planet Akari. Subsequently, their species is called Akaran.

They were sent to Earth (known as Los 3 to the Akarans) to investigate the humans, and see if they are ready for extraterrestrial contact. The Akarans sent a large cityship coasting towards Earth after an automated probe confirmed their existence. They are partners with Maes, A data manager for the Search.
Lien was among the first few "scouts" to arrive on Earth. Their ship was shot by a human base, which ended in them crashing in a forest in northern Utah.

With no other choice but to survive, Lien found a place to call “home” while stranded. That place just happened to be the old abandoned Jones radio dish. Currently Lien is living in the old dish complex, slowly but surely building a way to get home and reunite with their partner Maes and report their many findings to the Search.

The story of Somewhere Bygone begins when Lien meets a human girl, Rox who offers Lien help. For the first time in a long while, it seems like maybe, Lien will get to go home.
